SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS SIGN GABBIE

 FM100 NEWS

PNG National and former SP PNG Hunter, Edene Gabbie has signed a two year contract with the South Sydney Rabbitohs yesterday for the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs who were excited about the signing made the announcement yesterday.

The 24 year old who made his international Test debut for Papua New Guinea against Samoa in June this year in the Oceania Test has represented PNG in a number of Prime Minister’s XIII and non-Test fixtures prior to signing up with the Rabbitohs.

He debuted for the SP PNG Hunters in March 11th 2019 against the Ipswich Jets.

Gabbie, a fullback or winger, has spent the past two seasons plying in Queensland’s Intrust Super Cup competition, playing with the PNG Hunters in 2018 where he was named the rookie of the year.

Gabbie is currently playing with the Wynnum-Manly Seagulls in 2019 where he leads almost all of the attacking statistics in the competition so far this year.

With Gabbie’s signing, this now brings the total of PNG nationals being signed into Australian NRL Teams this year (2019) alone to three including Justin Olam who is currently playing for the Melbourne Storm and James Segeyaro with the Brisbane Broncos.
