A total of 32 police in the Eastern Highlands are currently attending the Part Qualification Examinations, run by the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary,to
help police officers with capacity building.

According to Inspector Selot Kaminiel, participants for the training are from Aiyura, Henganofi, Yonki, Goroka and Asaro.

Inspector Kaminiel said the training is all about giving opportunities to police officers to apply for promotion in the force because it is understood that promotion is something that motivates people within an organization.

Sergeant Dominic Sumala from the RPNGC Human Resource division in Port Moresby is in Goroka supervising the examinations while his other colleagues have gone out to other centers in the country to do the same.

The exams are for Sergeant All Class, Inspector All Class and Superintendent All Class.

Sargent Sumala said once these participants pass the examinations, they are then eligible to apply for positions and get promotions.

Sargent Sumala said the training is an annual thing but then it depends on funding and directions from the management however, it is important for capacity building in the RPNGC.

Inspector Kaminiel is confident that his comrades in Goroka will do well in the examinations with 23 doing the Sargent All Class, 8 doing the Inspector All Class and 1 doing the Superintendent All Class.
