TRAINEE TEACHER DIES IN ROAD ACCIDENT IN LUFA

A trainee teacher from a teachers college in the East New Britain Province died after she was hit by a moving vehicle while walking on the side of the road last Friday.

The accident occurred in Lufa in the Eastern Highlands Province less than 20km away from the EHP capital of Goroka.

The trainee teacher whose name was not revealed to the media was from a mix parentage of Manus and the Autonomous Region of Bougainville.

Police reports said she was on her teaching practical and was walking along the Lufa main road with her students when a driver of a Toyota Land cruiser lost control of the vehicle and ran over the teacher and the students.

The victims of the road side accident were admitted to the Goroka General Hospital with two students discharged and five students still recovering from the accident.

Unfortunately the trainee teacher did not survive and the body is still at the Goroka General Hospital morgue.

It is still unsure at this time on whether the trainee teacher was teaching at the Kami SDA Primary School or Origute Primary School.
