NAMATANAI MP Schnaubelt calls for more Collaboration to Deliver Services

NAMATANAI MP Walter Schnaubelt has vowed for a united front coordination to bolster implementation of service delivery to the entire six Local Level Governments of the district.
He said Namatanai holds promising potential for development.
“I am humbled to serve my people with the focus to direct this vessel in partnership and wide consultation with our implementing machinery, the public servants, administration,
“It is through a collective effort from everyone who makes up the web of development that we can all contribute meaningfully to change our district,’’ he said.
He said under his leadership, he would want to see that services reach the people through coordinated efforts through the District Development Authority (DDA) and the LLGs down to the ward level.
He said there was lack of coordination in the past amongst the district level and political leaders which has deprived the locals from accessing basic government services.
The MP said he believes in working together as a team to deliver services effectively.
“I am eager to coordinate this in my term as the political head of my people of the Namatanai district.’’
Schnaubelt said previous leaders were not interested in the affairs of the district forcing the innocent people to fern for themselves.
He said economic generating activities were not established, making the people to sweat and earn an income to make a living.
“I will make sure that people are satisfied; mothers and children are taken care of and enjoy the services they receive especially in maternal care, education, health and economic generating activities.”
He said in the space of two years the LLGs have benefited from his decisive decisions.
“I’ve worked in partnership with the Namatanai District Development Authority on the budget to deliver tangible projects that is benefiting the lives of the many people in my district unlike before.’’
He said he does not want any political interference at the provincial level to hinder his undertakings for the district.
This he was referring to a court order obtained earlier this year by the New Ireland Provincial Government through Governor Sir Julius Chan to issue a stop work notice on the re-opening of the old airstrip in the Namatanai Township.
The issue he admitted has saddened him deeply knowing his people were being deprived of a vital service that was bound to open up economic corridor for the district.
