PRO-BOXERS TO SQUARE OFF AGAINST AUSTRALIA AND PHILIPPINES

Three professional Papua New Guinean boxers will face the might of Australia and the Philippines when they step into the ring on at the Sir John Guise Indoor Complex on the 04th of August.

The main eight-round bouts will see experienced Light Heavyweight fighter, John Korake, squaring off with Australian Jordan Samardali, and Korake is anticipating a tough battle saying he has been hard at training since his last professional fight on June 23rd.

Fellow Light Heavyweight and Asylum Seeker-turned professional boxer, Kakar Ezatullah, will be taking on Australian Yun Deok No.

The only lesser weight division, will see Kauka Raka Jnr facing off Pilipino boxer Allen Valespin in the Lightweight bout.

Kauka Jnr says he is aiming to make the most of this opportunity when he steps into the ring in front of a home crowd.

All boxers expressed their gratitude to the sponsors and organizers for the opportunity, with Kauka Jnr saying not many companies have come to assist professional boxing in the past.

These international professional fights have been organized by Oceania Fight Promotions, whose patron, Ben Micah, says people are witnessing the resurrection of professional boxing in PNG, and adding that more bigger corporate organizations were showing interest in supporting such events.

Other fights will see an undercard bout between Light Heavyweights, Douglas Walo and Elias Basa.

Two Amateur fights to open the event next Sunday sees Flyweights Lui Tapota challenging Thomas Kagili, and Bantamweights Kopi Mahuta taking on Tiriva Smooth.

The Australian and Philippines fighters will be touching down in Port Moresby next Wednesday on 31st of July.

Outer ring side tickets for the event are going for K20 and are being sold at Vision City at the B-Mie stall.
